Soldiering On

Practices are beginning again. We have space. We have no PA yet. Jon B and Emily are not on the scene at present due to personal upheavals. So, me and Mark hunkered down on Tuesday and started working on stuff we were working on before our knee-injury hiatus. And some new stuff too.

It felt good. Playing with such a good drummer makes me play in a different way...intensely rhythmic stuff sounds better in a jam than it does echoing around my walls at home. And playing stuff with Mark reminds me why we spent so long waiting for him to recover from his op - he was doing some sterling work, particularly on Centrepoint. So I enjoyed myself and am looking forward to next Tuesday when we're going to do more of the same.

I'm feeling a bit more relaxed about writing than I have been lately, too. So hopefully some more new stuff is going to fall out of my guitar in the next couple of weeks - though I've probably jinxed myself now...

I've been listening to:

Polestar (gorgeous glitchy melancholic stuff), Mew, Tom Waits (Alice), Massive Attack (their marvellous new single), Bloc Party (their drummer kicks arse) and someone nice I know has copied me the complete Beethoven Piano Sonatas. So that'll take me a while to get through.

New News

Right. I didn't really like LiveJournal and never felt much inspired to update it. So The Sky Is Blue blog is now located here. Where I will update it more and everything will be wonderful.

Basically this will consist of a mixture of rambling and news as we in The Sky Is Blue play gigs, record things and basically try and weave our unsteady way through the land of unsigned music.

Current State of Play

• Two demo EPs recorded.Some airplay received.
• Some very enthusiastic reviews.
• A few very well received gigs played.
• A period of enforced absence from the live scene due to our drummer's knee operation in August 2005.
• Currently considering recording, producing and self releasing an album.
• Currently in love with the idea of going to Sweden to play some gigs. Wrestling with practicalities.
• In the process of sorting out some new rehearsal space. Obtaining vocal PA. Playing with drums again.
